For the talent. For the culture. For the future
‘Legacy In Motion’ is the workshop programme of the AMCK Legacy Foundation, bringing young commercial dancers closer to the people, knowledge and opportunities that can shape their futures.
We believe dancers deserve more than the chance to perform. They deserve access, guidance and support for their mental and physical wellbeing, alongside the opportunity to develop their craft and build sustainable careers.
Through free, focused workshop days led by leading choreographers and specialist partners, we're creating space for the next generation to learn, connect and move forward.
SO WHAT IS LEGACY IN MOTION?
LEGACY GRANTS
Financial support combined with personalised, 360° development packages, bringing together mentorship, training, industry access and mental and physical wellbeing support.
LEGACY IN MOTION
Free-to-attend workshop days that give young dancers access to leading choreographers, specialist wellbeing education and meaningful industry connections, whether or not they ever apply for a grant.
Our workshops are also an opportunity to listen. By hearing directly from dancers about the challenges they face and the support they need, we can help shape the Foundation's future programmes and funding priorities.
Because a stronger industry starts with listening to the people in it.

OUR WORKSHOPS
Legacy In Motion 001
29 APRIL 2026 | THE MANOR LDN, FINSBURY PARK
Our inaugural Legacy In Motion workshop brought together 90 young dancers for an afternoon of dance, wellbeing and industry connection.
Following an introduction by Aicha McKenzie, the day featured choreographers Sharon June and Olivia Beckford, giving dancers access to two distinct creative perspectives and the experience of professionals working across commercial dance, music, television and live performance.
Aicha began with breathwork ahead of a mental health workshop delivered by BAPAM, putting dancers' wellbeing at the heart of the day before moving into two dedicated choreography sessions. The programme also included a session with The TIRED Movement, opening up conversations around inclusion and representation in dance.
The afternoon closed with breathwork and an open conversation with Aicha, giving dancers space to reflect, ask questions and share what they wanted to see from the industry.
What made 001 special?
- 90 young dancers brought together in one space.
- Two leading choreographers sharing their experience and expertise.
- Specialist mental health education from BAPAM.

Legacy In Motion 002
9 OCTOBER 2026 | THE MANOR LDN, FINSBURY PARK
Building on the first workshop, Legacy In Motion 002 welcomed 80 young dancers back to The Manor LDN for another afternoon focused on developing talent and supporting the whole dancer.
The programme featured choreographers Kumari Suraj and Shaun Niles, exposing dancers to different creative disciplines, career paths and perspectives on working in the commercial dance industry.
BAPAM returned to deliver specialist mental health and wellbeing education, helping dancers explore the challenges they face and the practical tools available to support them.
Aicha McKenzie opened and closed the workshop, both with mental health guidance and breathwork.
The day also introduced a research survey led by Aisha James-Smith, Senior Lecturer in Sports and Exercise Therapy at the University of Wolverhampton. Her research explores the health, wellbeing and injury prevention of touring dancers, giving attendees an opportunity to contribute to a wider understanding of what performers need to sustain their careers.
What was new for 002?
- 80 young dancers took part in our second workshop.
- Two new choreographers, Kumari Suraj and Shaun Niles, brought fresh creative perspectives.
- BAPAM returned with specialist mental health education. A research collaboration explored the health, wellbeing and injury prevention of touring dancers.
- Feedback and discussion continued to help us understand the needs of the next generation.
OUR APPROACH
Access matters. Our workshops are free to attend, with a £5 sign-up fee to confirm a place for the first two events. We want cost to be less of a barrier to accessing industry knowledge and professional development.
Every dancer deserves to be seen. We bring leading choreographers into a focused studio environment, giving attendees more opportunity to engage, learn and ask questions than they might in a large-scale class.
Wellbeing belongs in the room. We build mental health education and breathwork into the programme itself, rather than treating wellbeing as something separate from a dancer's professional development.
Different voices create different possibilities. By inviting choreographers with varied backgrounds, styles and career experiences, we help dancers understand the breadth of opportunities available within commercial dance.
The conversation continues after the workshop. We listen to attendees and use what we learn to inform our future initiatives, partnerships and funding decisions.
Our aim isn't simply to run a successful workshop. It's to help create a more informed, connected and supported generation of dancers.

OPEN TO THE PUBLIC
Dance is for everyone.
Legacy In Motion was created to support young people building careers in commercial dance, but you don’t need a career plan to belong here. Our workshops are open to the public, and anyone who wants to move, learn and be part of the community is welcome. We want you to join us to reap the benefits of commercial dance. The confidence it brings, the physical exercise and the joy which surrounds it.
We believe dance has value far beyond the stage, screen or tour. It’s a way to feel stronger, calmer and more connected, whatever your age, background or experience.
